Need: White, orange and green paper, glue, water, dirt and paintbrushes.
- Prior to storytime, my dear summer volunteer cut out carrot and stem shapes. We also mixed up our "mud" -- old dried-out garden soil, glue and a bit of water.
- At storytime, at each craft seat, we placed sturdy paper, shapes, glue sticks and cups with "mud."
- We asked the kiddos to glue their carrots as if they were growing from the ground.
- Then when they finished, they should "bury" the carrots, with the "mud," leaving the green stems showing.
