Dog-gone Colorful
A few weeks ago, we cancelled storytime on Thursday because of our freak November Nor'easter. So, our Thursday class will be making Pigs this week and our Wednesday classes will be making Dogs. Jeez, so much to keep track of!
Thank you to my co-worker, Susan, for taking over storytime for me today .... Started my day with a flat tire!!! Things can only go up from here, right? Right????

Please excuse my pink turkeys, my printer was running out of ink! |
Need: Sticky-back paper, construction paper: red, orange, yellow, sticker eyes, and glitter glue.
- Prior to storytime, I cut out:
- Turkey-shaped frame and turkey body-head = orange
- Beak = yellow
- Gobbler/Waddle = red
- I didn't have glitter glue ... so I made some using craft glue mixed with glitter (hoping it dries clear!)
- Place a piece of sticky-back paper at each craft seat with the turkey-shape adhered ... all sticky side up.
- Kiddos glued the beak and gobbler and sticker eyes to the turkey body-head -- set aside.
- Then, they finger-painted the inside of the turkey-shape. Have handi-wipes standing by for quick clean-up.
- Adhere the turkey body to the sticky paper.
- Then, place a second piece of sticky-paper on top. Trim around the shape and there you go!

Flannel board: From Miss Mary Liberry Five Pigs So Squeaky Clean!
The rhyme is sung to the tune of Five Green and Speckled Frogs
FIVE pigs so squeaky clean
The cleanest pigs you've ever seen
Wanted to go outside and play
Oink Oink
ONE jumped into the mud
Landed with a great big THUD (clap)
Now there are FOUR pigs squeaky clean
Oink Oink
THREE pigs so squeaky clean ... and etc.
Craft: Pig (of course!) inspired by Rainbows Within Reach piggy bulletin board
- Need: Pink (in two different shades) and white construction paper, black marker and glue stickts
- Prior to storytime, cut out:
- Large circles in dark pink = body
- Medium circles in light pink = face
- Small circles in dark pink = nose
- Smaller circles in white and then cut in half = 2 eyes
- Triangles = ears
- Rectangles = legs
- Have the kiddos construct their piggy as you ask them to find the biggest circle, medium, small and etc.
